Green grass jelly can be made using leaves of grass jelly vine and shrubs grass jelly, from these two plants, green grass jelly will be obtained, in the making process, it should be noted the ratio between the number of leaves and the amount of water used.

Because if the ratio of the number of grass jelly and water is not appropriate, it can result in failure in making grass jelly.

Another factor that will determine the quality of grass jelly made is the selection of grass jelly leaves, choose an old grass jelly leaves, because the old leaves have more carbohydrates.

In making green grass jelly, try to use more grass jelly leaves and use enough boiled water, because this will affect the level of success in making grass jelly.

Handicraft, How To Make Lamp With Coconut Shell

Handicraft, How To Make Lamp With Coconut Shell
In the previous article entitled Handicraft, Vehicle miniature and Decorative Lamps From Coconut Shell, I have written a little about decorative lamps from coconut shells, now, I will practice the steps on how to make lamps from coconut shell.

Coconut shell decorative lamp is one of the handicrafts using coconut shells, this utilization is done so that coconut shells which used to be waste or goods that are not useful, will have added value and even have high economic value.

There are so many types of lights and designs that we can apply later when making it, steps in making let's read the explanation below.

Step's making decoration lamps from coconut shell

1. Make a design

Before making lamps from the coconut shell, then the first step that we have to think about is what this decorative lamp will be, for that we need a concept, and we will apply the design to the coconut shell.

The design that I made this time is quite simple, which is a large and small round design that will surround the entire surface of the coconut shell.

2. Prepare the tools and materials

Next is to prepare the tools and materials needed to simplify the process of making lights.

Tools needed:
 1. Hacksaw, you can use hand hacksaw, but i suggest to you, use an electric saw.
 2. Coarse and fine sandpaper, it is better if you use a machine sandpaper.
 3. Wood drill.
 4. Wood glue.
 5. Knife

Material :
• 2 large old coconuts
• Bulb
• Cable
• Lampshade

3. Steps of making

 1. Take a large old coconut 1 piece, remove the coconut husk, then use a hacksaw and cut it in a circle about 2 centimeters from the bud, cut it in a circle to two separate parts, remove the coconut water, then use a knife to pry the coconut meat, do it with care and try until all the coconut meat is taken all.

2. After all the coconut meat is taken, then use coarse sandpaper to smooth the entire surface of the coconut shell, if it feels smooth, use fine sandpaper to flatten and make the shell more shiny.

3. Take one more coconut that is still intact, use paint cans to make a circular pattern to get a straight cut, give a distance of about 2 cm to cut again, then with a saw into two parts, you will get a circular shell but has a different diameter, this piece of shell is what we will use as a foot lamp. then sand again until the surface is smooth.

4. The above process will produce 2 pieces of shell, one for the top, and another for the bottom that will function as a leg.

5. Use a drill to perforate the surface of the top coconut shell, make a hole in accordance with the concept that was made before

6. If the hollow process is complete, then sandpaper again and we will go into the process of installing the lights

7. The installation of the bulb and lamp fittings is done by glue on the legs, the glue with the fittings facing upwards, so that the lamp will be reversed later, this position will make it easier when removing and mounting the lamp if there are problems such as a broken bulb.

8. Attach the cable to the lamp fittings and attach the bulb and then connect it to electricity. then the decorative lights are ready.

9. The final process is finishing by doing varnish on the ready-made lamps to get beautiful and shiny colors, after lacquered let stand in the room until it is completely dry.

How to make Coconut Milk

How to make Coconut Milk
Coconut milk in bowl
Want to know how to make coconut milk ?
Coconut milk is one of the products from coconut. Coconut milk is made from the juice of coconut meat extract. This coconut meat extract has a milky white colour and a rather hard texture.

Coconut milk contains about 17-24 percent fat. Unlike coconut water, coconut milk does not have a sweet taste. This causes coconut milk to be used in the process of making various kinds of soups, sauces, desserts, and so on. coconut milk has a sugar content of zero grams or no sugar.

Coconut milk can also be regarded as one of the ingredients that is very often found in its use in the process of making food, cakes, and drinks. Besides that coconut milk has a price that is quite affordable for the community. Not only used as a basic ingredient in making food and drinks, coconut milk also has many other benefit. One of them, coconut milk can be used as an alternative milk to replace cow's milk.

Not only classified as food and beverage ingredients, some are even using coconut milk as an ingredient used for beauty.

Good quality coconut milk can be obtained from old coconuts, coconut milk that is processed from old coconut, has a thick texture and has a savory taste, and this is a standard that has long been applicable in the community, never once take coconut milk from young coconuts, or your culinary offerings will not have taste.

Preparations for making coconut milk

Choose coconut, at this stage the emphasis is more on the selection of coconuts to be harvested, the selection is made of old coconuts, with the following characteristics, coconuts that are old and brown in colour, In the coconut that has not been peeled, when it is old, the skin will change colour, namely brown, the skin in the coconut fruit is also brown, the skin in the coconuts which are very hard and thick has also been brownish, coconut meat is hard and thick, in old coconuts, coconut meat that will be taken coconut milk, will have a hard texture.

Peel and break down the coconut

Next is the coconut fruit then peeled from the soft outer skin, until the hard shell remains, then, break the hard shell, dispose of the water in the coconut fruit, then using a tool, separate the coconut meat from the shell for further processing.

Shredded coconut meat

After the coconut meat is separated from the hard coconut shells, there are two ways that can be done to process the shredded coconut, namely the traditional and modern methods.

The traditional way is to only use simple tools that have long been used to grate the coconut, and the commonly used tool is called grater.

Grater has long been used to grate the coconut, this tool is made of boards plugged into nails or needles that are small in large quantities, and sharp, when using a grater, there is a high risk of fingers being injured because they are scraped by sharp needles.

How to use grated is also quite easy, just pressed the coconut fruit up and down the grater, and you will get very small pieces of coconut fruit, which will then be taken coconut milk.

The process of shredding the coconut in a modern way also has a variety of tools, but the use of this tool is specifically only for the seller of grated coconut, yes, in our place, only grated coconut is sold, to get coconut milk, we have to process it again at home.

Coconut shredders that are fairly modern already use electricity to be able to work, using an electric dynamo, and the end there is a head that also has a small sharp needle, if using this tool, the palm fruit does not need to be separated from the shell, because when operated, the coconut shell will be held when the coconut fruit will be rubbed against the head of the dynamo and small pieces of coconut fruit will be obtained.

Squeeze the grated coconut meat

Coconut milk is obtained from squeezing small pieces of coconut, small pieces of coconut obtained through the grating process above, next is what kind of coconut milk you want to get, whether thick or thin coconut milk.

The tools used in squeezing coconut milk are 2 bowls and a colander. Bowls are usually made of glass, and the filter is made of zinc which has small holes and has a very large amount. This filter serves to separate the coconut milk that comes out when squeezing with shredded coconut meat.

In our place, the process of squeezing coconut milk is carried out in two parts, meaning that we want to get two types of coconut milk, which are thick and thin.

To get thick coconut milk is done by mixing a little water in a pile of small pieces of coconut. And thin coconut milk will be obtained by mixing more water after the process of filtering thick coconut milk is done.
Filters to squeeze grated coconut meat

In general, the process of milk squeezing is done by:
1. Put the shredded coconut into a bowl 1.
2. Mix with water.
3. Crush or squeeze the squeezed hand with a mixture of grated coconut and water for 2-3 minutes
4. After it feels mixed, take the filter and place it on the bowl 2.
5. Enter the mixture of grated coconut and water that has been kneaded squeezed into the filter.
6. Squeeze until the coconut milk comes out, repeat until the whole grater has been squeezed.
7. Repeat the above process if thick coconut milk has been obtained, and want to take thin coconut milk.
8. Done.

The steps above to take coconut milk are actually quite easy to do if you are used to it, even though the whole of the above process actually takes quite a long time, from selecting coconuts, peeling, separating the coconut meat from the shell, grating and squeezing.

Although currently there are many coconut milk products that have been sold freely and are more simple, but people still choose to squeeze their own coconut milk, this is because the food flavor from the original coconut milk will be better.

Thus the article on how to get coconut milk from coconuts, another time I will write an article about dishes that use coconut or coconut milk as ingredients, subscribe to continue to get the latest articles from this blog, hopefully useful, thank's.

There are at least 11 benefits of coconut sugar if we want to consume it, and of course the 11 benefits are already known through the research process.

After we know what benefits of coconut sugar for our health, let's look at how the process starts from how to make coconut sugar from the beginning until we can consume it.

The Process of making coconut sugar – Taking a Coconut Sap

The first stage of the construction begins with collecting sap from the coconut tree, at my place, the sap is called "Nira".

The equipment needed to collect coconut sap includes a machete and a container, usually from bamboo that has been cut, or it can also use jerry cans that have been drilled rather large, according to the size of the coconut flower stems.

Then, Someone has to climb on a coconut tree to get coconut sap.
Coconut sap is obtained by cutting the stem of the coconut flower, and the cut flower stems should not have blossomed.

The process of taking coconut sap should not take long time, because, coconut sap is very fast fermented and cannot be made into coconut sugar.

This coconut sap extraction process is carried out by people who already have skill in that field, because not everyone can climb coconut trees and skills in cutting coconut flower stems is also needed.

This process also contains a high risk, because the average coconut tree that is taken from the sap is a coconut tree that is old and has a high stem.

The Process of making coconut sugar – Collecting Coconut Sap

After the process of taking coconut sap from the tree, then, next process is collecting sap.
The coconut trees that will be taken from the sap are usually more than one tree, around 10-15 coconuts tree will be taken together with the sap for one production of coconut sugar.

Nira or sap, has a sweet taste, and has good benefits if consumed in reasonable amounts. Has a white that is not thick, and tends to sticky. next article i will write about benefit of sap or Nira.

As I have discussed above, that coconut sap must be quickly processed because it quickly undergoes fermentation, if it has been fermented, the coconut sap cannot be used to make sugar.

In the process of collecting sap, people will climb the coconut tree again, then lower the bamboo container or jerry can, which already contains the sap in it.

The Process of making coconut sugar – Cooking Coconut Sap

The next process after the coconut sap is collected is by heating it to the sap, or more easily said that is cooked.

The coconut sap to be cooked should have good quality, in order to produce coconut sugar which has good quality too.

In my place, coconut sap usually be cooked using a stove which is made of soil, and using wood fuel, then the coconut sap will be filtered first so it does not mix with dirt, then coconut sap pour in a large pan and the cooking process begins.

The cooking process is done by stirring coconut sap regularly, to prevent it to burn, if it happens then the coconut sugar will taste bitter. Therefore the cooking process is done on low heat. When the cooking process will arise foam and dirt that passes during screening, and it must be discarded.

There is no standard time applied when cooking coconut sap, the benchmark is if the coconut sap has reduced 8-10% of the initial volume when cooked.

When coconut sap has reached 8-10% when heated, then the coconut sap will thicken, at this stage the coconut sap has changed shape to liquid sugar or thick syrup.

The next step is to lift a pan containing liquid sugar or thick syrup from the cooking stove.
In my place, coconut sugar will usually be printed into a round shape, for that mold is needed which usually using pieces of bamboo with a height of about 5-6 cm.

This molding process is done when liquid sugar is still hot, liquid sugar will be taken from the pan and put into pieces of bamboo that have been neatly arranged on the table.

Another form of coconut sugar is powder, the way is to pound the freshly cooked coconut sugar until it is in powder form, and then it will be sifted.

Conclusion

The process of making coconut sugar is still done in the traditional way, with a high risk when taking coconut sap, it does not make people afraid to make coconut sugar, because it has high economic value and has many benefits, both as drinks, spices and good for health.

This is the process of making coconut sugar from the beginning to the end, hopefully what I have written gives you a new knowledge, and is useful, to provide a visual picture for you, please see the video below, thank you.

Technique and how to Plant Coconut Tree Properly and Correctly

Technique and how to Plant Coconut Tree Properly and Correctly
Images : Coconut tree
Cocos nucifera, is the scientific name for coconuts, is the only member of the cocos family, in addition to this plant we can find it on coast, making it easier for us to get coconuts and make these plants the most widely used by the community, both from in terms of the economy, as well as the social life of the coastal communities.

for example, growing coconuts is a very profitable business, because in one coconut stem, all parts of the plant can be utilized and have economic value.

in the cultivation of coconut plants, there are several techniques needed so that the results to be obtained can be maximized

1. Choose seeds

Seeds to be planted must come from mother trees that are around 20 - 40 years old, have a fruit production rate of between 80 - 120 fruits / tree / year. has a straight and strong stem with clean leaves and plants free from pests and diseases.

To choose good seeds, there are several criteria that can be applied, including choosing old coconut fruit, looking for the coconut with type 4/5 sides of coconut skin that is brown, round, and has a slightly oval shape, slippery skin and smooth, and has an long of fruit around 9-10 inch and the width of the fruit is about 7 inch.

2. Preparing the Seeds

After selecting seeds, the seedlings should be treated for approximately 1 month in a place where the air is fresh, not leaking, dry, and not exposed to direct sunlight with the right temperature for the place is around 25-27 degrees.

3. Seeding Techniques With Polybags

  • Give a wound to the coconut seed with a length of approximately 2inch in the place where the coir appears on the side of the stalk facing the widest side using a knife. Giving a wound should not be done twice.
  • Planting seeds with a depth of about 2/3 part of the wound that has been given with facing up and the bud facing east.
  • The position of the planting makes the triangle position tangent. In per square meter distance is filled with about 30 - 35 seeds.
  • Seeding in polybags will take approximately 6-12 months, and begin to leaf around 6 strands with a stem height of about 90-100 cm.

4. Maintenance during seeding

Here's how to plant coconut trees at a good maintenance stage:
  • Do watering using water until the soil is saturated, then can be watered using a hose or sprinklers which is done in the morning and evening. This plant's need for water depends on the age of the seeds that have been planted.
  • If necessary, provide security with insecticides or fungicides at a dose of around 2 cc / liter and given evenly to all parts of the plant.
  • Give organic fertilizer and do the fertilizer for one month by mixing with soil in a polybag with a thickness of 3 cm.
  • Choose seeds that grow perfectly within one month.

5. Transfer of  Seeds

Note how to plant the following coconut trees in the transfer of seeds :
  • Transfer of seedlings should be done when entering the rainy season.
  • The polybag seeds must be transferred when the age of the plants reaches the age of 9-12 months. Roots that arise outside the poly bag should be cut at the time of two to three days before.

6. Planting Media

Because coconut plants can grow in various planting media such as laterite, sand, rocky soil, and alluvial. But to make the planted coconut has the best productivity, it should be planted using alluvial soil.

To grow well, land that has the availability of ground water is needed by coconut plants. In addition, the ground water obtained must have the same availability as water in rainfall during the first month

The land used to grow this coconut plant is flat land, if it has a slope (around 3-50%) then it is better to make a terrace so that soil erosion does not occur and also to maintain fertility on the soil.

7. Processing of Planting Media

  • Do calcification if the soil pH has a high acidity level. Do this until the soil pH reaches 6-8.
  • Give fertilizer by using 300 grams of  fertilizer for each hole to be planted.

8. Planting techniques

The following is how to plant coconut trees properly and correctly:
  • Do the planting method using the triangle planting method from the land used and make the plants exposed to the sun to the maximum. Plant plants with a distance of 4 x 4 x 4 inch.
  • Make a planting hole when before entering the 1 - 2 month before planting to eliminate soil acidity. The size to be used is 24 x 24 x 24 inch to 40 x 40 x 40 inch.
  • Plant coconut trees at the beginning of the rainy season. If the rain has fallen in the near future and enough to wet the head plants.
  • Then the planting time in the following month is when the rainfall at the previous time reaches the level of 200 mm.

9. Planting Method

  • The top of the soil is mixed with phosphate fertilizer at a dose of 300 grams per hole, then the seeds are inserted into the planting hole.
  • In the bottom poly bag inserted into the planting hole, then in the iris until the end.

10. Weeding

Do weeding on the coconut plant with a width of 1 meter in the first year, 1.5 meters in the second year, and 2 meters in the third year. The thing that needs to be done is to use machetes that are directed inward to cut parasites and plant pests to the limit of the soil surface. Do weeding for 4 weeks in the rainy season and 6 weeks - 2 months in the dry season.

11. Thinning and Embroidery

Thinning and Embroidery are exchanges for plants that grow with defects. If plants have abnormal growth, the plants should be replaced with other seeds.

12. Throw away leaves

Throw away leaves is to remove leaves that have been colored brown because they are dry. Climb the coconut plant and then remove the dead leaves.

13. Fertilization
